Hi, I’m Rod and I would like to welcome you to Jet The Globe. Jet The Globe is a travel how-to site. How did I learn all this travel stuff? I am an airline captain for a major U.S. airline. So what does this mean for the reader? Well for starters I am a full-time traveler. This is not written by someone who gets “out there” once a year or so. I have been leading this lifestyle of travel for both work and pleasure for the last 30 years. It is a lifestyle I love, and one which I plan to continue into the future.
So what can you get out of Jet The Globe? I am asked how I find great deals and great places for my travels. The simple answer is technology and experience. Technology gets me where I need to be in the planning stage and during my travels. I use it both for business and leisure travel. Yes, I am one of those “gadget guys”. Jet the Globe features excellent information on how to use technology to get great travel deals to great destinations. I average about 240 days a year on the road. Most of these days I am on the move changing locations. this means my gear goes through more abuse in a year than the average traveler. Because of this, you will find great reviews of travel gear and tech gadgets. And not stopping there you will discover how to best use that tech gear while traveling.
Is this advice for you? I have kept friends and coworkers confused for years about whether I am a luxury travel guy or a budget travel guy. Well, now the real answer to the big question ………yes. I am both and yet neither exactly. I am a value travel guy and I bet many of you would like to be too. In my travels, I mix economy, mid-range, and luxury travel. So does the category I am traveling in today depend on how much money is in my bank account? No definitely not. I am as likely to take a business class flight to stay in a 2-star hotel, or economy class to stay in a 5-star. So what drives this madness? I am a firm believer in value travel. What? Simply getting the most value for your travel dollar. I love to splurge for a business or first class ticket or a nice 5-star hotel when they are a good value for the money. I also love to save on a perfectly fine less than 4-star hotel when I do not plan on spending much time in the room anyway.
Hopefully, this site will let you consider planning in that same direction. If you are a high-end traveller you can discover the best deals for your high-end travel. If you are a budget traveller you can discover the best places to get the most for that travel dollar. And as the type of traveller who can splurge once in a while hopefully, you can find the best times and places to make that splurge.
My travels have brought many friends, experiences, and memories. May your travels bring the same to you.
